Cities like Portland, New York and Seattle has already fully embraced the food truck. Now, it is Scottsdale’s turn. Lori Baker, a Scottsdale entrepreneur and owner of The Barter Group and Edible Exchange, in collaboration with Casey Stechnij of SuperFarm Food Truck (Best of Our Valley winner for Best Food Truck), has announced Food Truck Caravan. Every Saturday night from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. on the northwest corner of 5th Ave. and Goldwater in Downtown Scottsdale, Food Truck Caravan will feature a rotation of up to eight of the Valley’s best gourmet food trucks each week. Guests can also enjoy live music and a comfortable vibe. The weekly event’s slogan: Where street food and live music connect.
“We’re really excited to bring a new concept to Scottsdale,” says Baker, event organizer. “Our Ate on 5th program will allow guests to receive discounts to participating area merchants, restaurants and bars by purchasing food off one of the food trucks. We want people to linger and support the local merchants. Together, we’re building a community and are passionate about supporting local owned businesses.”
On May 18, the soft opening included the likes of Grilled Cheese Truck, Liberty Biscuits, Satay Hut, Spice It Up, Stickaberrry, SuperFarm Food Truck and Udder Delights. The official grand opening, though, will take place Saturday, June 8 with a live performance from Sahnnas Brothers, Spanish guitarists who play throughout the Valley. www.foodtruckcaravan.com.
